Suzanna's Training/Experience

  • Graduated from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio,  with a BFA in Creative Writing and minors in Journalism and Music in 2012.

​

  • Earned a MS in Art Therapy and Counseling from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2021. Specializations include: trauma and neuroscience, medical art therapy, school art therapy, and Jungian art therapy. 

​

  • Presented at the American Art Therapy Association 2022 conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, “Preparing for Subpoena to Court: A Case Study.”

​

  • Experience as an art therapist at the following types of facilities: inpatient rehabilitation unit; juvenile detention center; acute psychiatric hospital; agency for intensive in-home programs, family counseling, and outpatient services; and multisystemic therapy community program.

​

  • Member of the American Art Therapy Association (AATA).

​

  • Member of the Virginia Art Therapy Association (VATA).

​

  • Serves on the Research Committee with the American Art Therapy Association.

​

  • Safe Zone training 2023 and ally.

​

  • Experience working with mental health diagnoses of: depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar, schizophrenia, substance use, eating disorders, autism spectrum disorder, attachment disorders, and borderline personality disorder.

​

  • Experience with medical diagnoses of: heart attacks, strokes, amputation, and immune disorders.

  • Experience working with families and couples.

  • Experience with career counseling.
